Tennessee has not announced the kick-off time for the 2020 Orange & White Game yet, nor has UT released their full spring practice schedule at this time. We will update with that information as they become available.
This year’s Orange & White Game will give Vol fans their first look at several new Vols, such as five-star quarterback Harrison Bailey, Georgia transfer offensive lineman Cade Mays, and USC grad transfer wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. on offense. It will also be the first time Vol fans really get to see Georgia transfer Deangelo Gibbs in action at wide receiver. Gibbs sat out all of last season after transferring to UT from the Bulldogs.
Last year, the White team beat the Orange team 28-10, and the official announced attendance of the annual spring game was 50,967. Quarterback Jarrett Guarantano tossed four touchdowns, JT Shrout threw for a score, and Brian Maurer got picked off twice, both times by then-freshman safety Jaylen McCollough. Jauan Jennings, Dominick Wood-Anderson, and Josh Palmer all caught touchdowns.
In Jeremy Pruitt’s tenure as UT’s head coach, Tennessee has eclipsed the 50,000 mark in attendance every year thus far. Last year’s numbers, though probably slightly elevated, nearly reached 51,000. In Pruitt’s first year at the helm, 65,098 fans showed up in Neyland Stadium on April 22nd.
With the way Tennessee capped off the 2019 season and with a heated quarterback battle to observe, Vol fans will likely show out in a big way this year.
Tennessee has had 60,000 or more fans show up for the Orange & White Game six different times, and five of those instances have come over the last seven years. The record for most fans in attendance for an Orange & White Game is 73,801, and that was back in 1986 after the Vols’ big Sugar Bowl victory to cap off the 1985 season.
