This group would’ve received a much better grade if not for the fact that they jumped offsides four different times in this game. Tennessee had issues all night with the snap count for whatever reason. But other than those undisciplined penalties, UT’s defensive line actually did a good job of getting penetration and making Peyton Ramsey move out of the pocket and keeping the Hoosiers’ depleted running back group from doing anything notable.

Similar to Tennessee’s offensive line, the defensive line didn’t dominate the Hoosiers, but Tracy Rocker’s group played well. The Vols D-line didn’t tally a lot of sacks, but they pressured Peyton Ramsey quite a bit. Darrell Taylor was able to finish his Tennessee career with 1.5 sacks while Matthew Butler registered a half of a sack. The defensive line was instrumental in holding Indiana running back Sampson James to 2.3 rushing yards per attempt.
