Nathanael: B+
Eric Gray showed why he’s the back of the future for Tennessee. His ability to make one cut and pick up chunks of yards is phenomenal, and he was a difference-maker on the ground and as a pass catcher. He scored the game-winning touchdown, and he had the crucial onside kick recovery that showed off his awareness. Ty Chandler didn’t have the greatest overall stat line, but he picked up about four or five first downs on one drive alone, so he got the job done on several occasions.

Eric Gray once again showed off his game-breaking talent against the Hoosiers. The true freshman led Tennessee in rushing with 86 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. The most important play Gray made, however, was recovering the onside kick that sparked the Vols’ win. Ty Chandler chipped in 35 rushing yards and provided a big spark in the second half with a kick return that gave the Vols the football on the opposite side of the 50.
