Tennessee’s first bowl appearance since 2016 will kick-off on Thursday night, January 2nd down in Jacksonville, Florida. Vol fans are excited for the Vols’ return to the postseason, and it’s clear Tennessee’s entire program is also fired up.
The official Tennessee football Twitter account released a hype video ahead of Thursday’s TaxSlayer Gator Bowl pitting the Vols against the Indiana Hoosiers. The video is narrated by former Vol quarterback and current Jacksonville Jaguar backup quarterback Josh Dobbs, and it details the Vols’ journey to the postseason this year.
Tennessee began the 2019 season in disastrous fashion, losing 38-30 to Georgia State and following that up with a double-overtime loss to BYU. After beating FCS foe UT-Chattanooga, the Vols then lost games against Florida and Georgia to fall to 1-4.
The odds were severely stacked against the Vols to make it to the postseason, let alone get to 7-5 on the year. But that’s exactly what Tennessee did.
As the video shows, head coach Jeremy Pruitt and his players bought in to a “never say die” attitude and “put on more steam” throughout the season to finish the regular season on a five-game winning streak and winning six of their final seven games.
