Tennessee’s Christmas Wish List for Recruiting

Add a Pass Rusher or Two

Tennessee’s 2020 class has some really good pieces in it currently. Harrison Bailey seems like a stud quarterback of the future, Omari Thomas and Dominic Bailey appear to be solid fixtures for the defensive line, Jalin Hyatt and Jimmy Calloway bring speed and athleticism to the wideout spot, and the Vols have a strong group of offensive linemen committed.

One thing that’s missing, though, is a notable pass rusher or two.

The Vols need to grab at least one player who is capable of coming off the edge either as a defensive end or outside linebacker in this class. Tennessee struck out on several of their pass rushing targets in the 2019 class, and they can’t afford to miss out again this cycle.

The biggest name to keep an eye on for the Vols here is four-star weak-side defensive end Morven Joseph. The former Florida and Florida State commit seemed to be trending towards UT, but then he took a visit to see the Seminoles this past weekend. That’s thrown a wrench in things, and he no longer seems like the definite Tennessee lean many believed him to be.

Outside of Joseph, Kansas commit Khari Coleman is the most likely option as a pass rusher. Former Vol commit Jimari Butler could also be brought back into the fold if there’s room, but there’s no guarantee of that.

Longshots here include LSU commit and former Vol commit BJ Ojulari as well as four-star weak-side defensive end Van Fillinger.
