Video: Rick Barnes Discusses Memphis Game, Penny Hardaway

This upcoming Saturday will be Tennessee’s biggest game of the young season. The hype has been building all offseason, and it’s almost time for one of the most talked about non-conference games for Tennessee’s men’s basketball program in a while.

No. 19 Tennessee (7-1) hosts No. 13 Memphis (8-1) this upcoming Saturday, December 14th. Thompson-Boling Arena is already sold out for the event, and after last year’s antics after the game from Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway, there’s been plenty of offseason chatter about the upcoming match-up.

For Tennessee, Saturday’s game will be the third time in nine games that the Vols have faced a ranked opponent. It’ll be the second time in 10 games for the young Tigers that they’ve faced a ranked team.

On Tuesday, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes spoke with the media about Saturday’s game, his relationship with Penny Hardaway, his team’s development, and more.

  1. This video is a great lesson in what it’s like to have class. Hardaway may go on to be a decent coach but he will never be the man that Rick Barnes is.
