It was reported earlier this week that Tennessee would be wearing orange pants as part of their road uniform when they took on Kentucky on Saturday night in Lexington. On Saturday afternoon, Tennessee themselves confirmed that.

The official Tennessee football Twitter account posted a short video on Saturday about two hours before the Vols are set to kick-off with Kentucky that confirmed the Vols’ wardrobe choice for Saturday night’s game.

Tennessee will be donning the orange pants tonight.

Saturday’s game against Kentucky will mark the first time since the Vols played Kentucky in the regular season finale in the 2013 season that UT has worn orange pants with white jerseys. That was all the way back on November 30, 2013, and UT won 27-14 in that contest.

In every road game since then, Tennessee has gone with their “Stormtrooper” look of white jerseys and white pants.

This Saturday will be the first time in school history the Vols are wearing white tops with stripeless orange pants. Previously, all of Tennessee’s orange pant designs featured white stripes down the side. It also marks the first time Tennessee has worn orange pants on the road in the Nike era. Nike became Tennessee’s official apparel company prior to the 2015 season, and all previous uniforms to feature orange pants were designed by Adidas or any of UT’s other apparel companies.

Earlier this season, Tennessee went with an all-orange look against Mississippi State in Neyland Stadium on October 12th. The Vols never trailed in that contest and upset the Bulldogs 20-10 to pick up UT’s first SEC win of the season. That game marked the first time Tennessee had worn orange pants since the 2016 season.

This season will mark the first time since the 2013 season that Tennessee has worn orange pants more than once in the same year. The Vols not only donned the orange pants against Kentucky on the road to end the 2013 campaign, but they also wore them in a 23-21 upset victory over No. 11 South Carolina at home that same season. Tennessee also wore orange pants on the road that season when they took on No. 2 Oregon, falling to the Ducks 59-14.

Tennessee and Kentucky will kick-off at 7:30 PM Eastern. You can find out how and where to watch tonight’s game here.
