Tennessee broke out the orange pants earlier this season, marking the first time since 2016 that UT had sported an all-orange look at home. Now, the Vols may be wearing the orange pants on the road for the first time in over half a decade.

According to long-time Knoxville reporter Jimmy Hyams, the Vols will wear orange pants on the road this weekend when they take on the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington.

If Tennessee does don orange pants this weekend, it will mark the first time since the Vols played Kentucky in the regular season finale in the 2013 season that UT has worn orange pants with white jerseys. That was all the way back on November 30, 2013, and UT won 27-14 in that contest.

In every road game since then, Tennessee has gone with their “Stormtrooper” look of white jerseys and white pants.

According to Chad Fields on Twitter, this Saturday would mark the first time in school history the Vols would be wearing white tops with stripeless orange pants. It would also mark the first time Tennessee has worn orange pants on the road in the Nike ear. Nike became Tennessee’s official apparel company prior to the 2015 season.

Earlier this season, Tennessee went with an all-orange look against Mississippi State in Neyland Stadium on October 12th. The Vols never trailed in that contest and upset the Bulldogs 20-10 to pick up UT’s first SEC win of the season.

Should the Vols wear orange pants on Saturday, it would mark the first time since the 2013 season Tennessee has worn orange pants more than once in the same season. The Vols not only donned the orange pants against Kentucky on the road to end the season, but they also wore them in a 23-21 upset victory over No. 11 South Carolina at home. Tennessee also wore orange pants on the road that season when they took on No. 2 Oregon, falling to the Ducks 59-14.
