Were there mistakes? Absolutely. Do those matter much when you go out, respond to each of South Carolina’s punches in the first half, then completely dominate in the second half? Nope.
Tennessee played their best second half of football since their impressive display in the second half of the 38-28 victory over Florida in 2016. The Vols utterly dominated the Gamecocks in the second half, and they did so in all three phases of the game. The players and coaches were all in sync in this game, and it was one of Tennessee’s most sound (and fun) victories in years.

Saturday’s game was vital to Tennessee making a bowl game. With the win, the Vols are in great position to not only make a bowl game, but maybe even win out. South Carolina was arguably the toughest game remaining on the schedule. With it out of the way and it resulting in a win, UT has a great opportunity to pick up much-needed momentum surrounding the program and in recruiting if they can do some serious damage down the stretch. Saturday’s win over Carolina was great for the program, the fans, and for recruiting.
