Defensive Line

The Vols’ defensive line has been ineffective pretty much the entire season, and aside from some decent play from Matthew Butler, this unit again had a forgettable night. Time and time again, Jake Fromm had all day to throw, and time and time again the linebackers had to try and make the first contact on UGA’s running backs after the D-line failed to get a push. I get that Georgia’s offensive line is arguably the best in all of college football, but the Vols’ defensive line should’ve been able to put up more of a fight than they did. Zero sacks, zero quarterback pressures, and zero tackles for loss from this group. That’s an “F” all day.

The defensive line continues to be the worst unit on the team. Yet again, the defensive line failed to generate any pressure at all as Tennessee finished with zero sacks on the night. The secondary didn’t play great, but the defensive line continued to put them in bad positions. Zero pressure all night resulted in Jake Fromm having all day to throw the football and tossing 288 yards and two touchdowns on 24-of-29 passing. The defensive line also failed to get any push against the run which resulted in 238 rushing yards for the Bulldogs.
