Defensive Line

This defensive line just isn’t good. At all. Matthew Butler played okay, and Aubrey Solomon made one nice play. Other than that, the group as a whole was ridiculously ineffective. Kyle Trask more often than not had all day to throw, and Florida’s struggles in the run game were more due to poor blocking and poor reads by the running backs rather than anything UT’s D-line did.

Once again, Tennessee’s defensive line failed to produce any form of production. The only play the group made all day came on an Aubrey Solomon tackle for a loss on the first series of the game. Other than that, Tennessee’s linebackers made up for a lot of mistakes up front. Matthew Butler did have more of a presence, however, making five tackles.

  1. I have been a vol fan since I was 5 or 6 years old and am approaching 70. This MAY be the worst I have ever seen a Tennessee team look.

  2. I totally agree that at some point the players have to make the plays that are there in front of them. If we just make the simple plays and execute when the scoring opportunities were there, we go in to the 4th quarter with a chance to win this game.
