Aside from Josh Palmer making a really good catch on a perfectly-thrown ball by Brian Maurer and both Jauan Jennings and Marquez Callaway having really good runs after catches, Saturday was a lackluster day for the Vols’ wideouts in my opinion. Jennings had a really bad drop that went from giving UT a touchdown to giving Florida an interception. Dominick Wood-Anderson was once again shut out, though he should’ve had a huge gain if Guarantano could’ve delivered the ball accurately to him. It’s hard to judge this group too harshly because of how bad UT’s quarterback play was, but I still didn’t think they had all that good of a day as a group. Jennings making a boneheaded penalty on a Florida punt return and failing to just fall on a fumbled ball rather than trying to scoop it up and run also hurt this grade.

Tennessee’s wide receivers and tight ends were hampered by poor quarterback play, but other than Jauan Jennings’ drop in the end zone in the first quarter that would have resulted in a touchdown, the group had a decent day. Jennings still had seven catches for 73 yards, though the drop was glaring. Marquez Callaway only had one catch, but I thought that had more to do with poor quarterback play. Same goes for Josh Palmer only finishing with two catches.

  1. I have been a vol fan since I was 5 or 6 years old and am approaching 70. This MAY be the worst I have ever seen a Tennessee team look.

  2. I totally agree that at some point the players have to make the plays that are there in front of them. If we just make the simple plays and execute when the scoring opportunities were there, we go in to the 4th quarter with a chance to win this game.
