If it wasn’t for Tennessee’s special teams unit on Saturday, the Vols aren’t even in the game in the fourth quarter. Brent Cimaglia has been one of the most impressive players on UT’s roster this season so far, and he was perfect on Saturday night. He connected on all four of his field goal attempts, including tying his career-high with a 51-yard kick. All of Tennessee’s kick-offs were boomed into the end zone for touchbacks, and Joe Doyle was a weapon in the punting game. Two of his three punts were downed inside the 20, and he had a nice 52-yard punt that flipped the field in the fourth quarter. UT’s coverage units were also very good.

I know I always joke about Tennessee being #KickerU and #PunterU, but seriously, where would Tennessee be without Brent Cimaglia? He’s now a perfect 7-for-7 through two games this season. On Saturday, he was 4-for-4 and connected on kicks from 51, 39, 22, and 40 yards out.

Joe Doyle also had a nice day. On three punts, he averaged 45.7 yards per punt. Doyle had a long of 52 yards and pinned two punts inside the 20-yard line.

  1. I’ll always have your backs Vols, just promise to work harder. The players look really fatigued out there. Please work harder getting in better shape. We’ve all heard that games are won or lost in fourth quarters.
