Nathanael: A-

I would give this group a flat out “A,” but Ty Chandler had a really bad drop on a screen pass, and Eric Gray failed to recognize a play and went to block rather than set up the screen pass on another play. Both Chandler and Gray were ineffective in the pass game, an area both has the ability to excel at. But overall, I thought both backs were exceptional at running the ball. There were several times Gray turned a potential loss or no gain into something positive, and Chandler was gritty and also showed off his speed and elusiveness. The absence of Tim Jordan was felt in short yardage situations, but I thought Chandler and Gray proved to be a capable duo.

Ben: A

I thought both of Tennessee’s running backs — Ty Chandler and Eric Gray — were terrific. Chandler rushed for nearly a new career-high with 154 yards on 26 carries. He also had two catches. Gray also flashed for a second consecutive week. The freshman rushed for 77 yards on 17 carries and also caught two passes.

  1. I’ll always have your backs Vols, just promise to work harder. The players look really fatigued out there. Please work harder getting in better shape. We’ve all heard that games are won or lost in fourth quarters.
