CB2: Bryce Thompson, Kenneth George, Jr.
Nickel: Warren Burrell, Kenneth George Jr./Bryce Thompson

Heading into fall camp, we had Warren Burrell penciled in as the likely starter at nickelback with Baylen Buchanan missing all of spring practices. That’s only been further solidified, and Burrell has actually challenged for one of the outside corner spots as well.

The main three corners who will likely play for UT this fall will be Bryce Thompson, Alontae Taylor, and Warren Burrell. In what capacity those three see the field will be the interesting part.

Burrell is capable of playing the nickel, but he also looks like a candidate to play on the outside as one of the two main corners. Thompson has practiced at nickel as well, meaning he could slot inside to cover a slot receiver while Burrell and Taylor man the outside spots.

However that looks, depth is still an issue with the cornerbacks just like with the safeties. Kenneth George Jr. looks to be the main backup at either of the three corner positions, and Terrell Bailey could see the field, too. True freshmen Kenney Solomon and Jerrod Means will be two to watch as the season unfolds.
