Quarterback
Starter: Jarrett Guarantano
Backup: JT Shrout, Brian Maurer
Unless there’s an injury or a major setback, Jarrett Guarantano will lead Tennessee’s offense this season. Fall camp will serve as a way to help him make improvements to his game, but it will mostly serve as a way to find a viable backup to him.
Redshirt freshman JT Shrout and true freshman Brian Maurer will likely fight all of fall camp for that No. 2 spot behind Guarantano. Figuring out the backup QB position is paramount for Tennessee this fall, and neither Shrout nor Maurer did enough in the spring to really separate. Shrout is likely the favorite right now based on experience, but Maurer has a lot of potential.
