Tennessee already has a commitment from one massive offensive linemen in their 2020 class. On Thursday, they added another giant lineman to their potential recruiting haul.
The Vols already held a commitment from Javontez Spraggins, an interior offensive lineman who plays for East St. Louis in Illinois. Spraggins measures in at 6-foot-3, 340 pounds. Now, he’s joined by another huge lineman in Tennessee’s 2020 class.
James Robinson is a 6-foot-4, 327-pound lineman who plays for Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama. On Thursday, he announced his commitment to Tennessee. He chose the Vols over his other four finalists that consisted of Auburn, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State.

Robinson has been a frequent visitor to UT’s campus over the last few months. He first made the trip up to Knoxville back in early March, and that’s when he picked up an offer from the Vols. He came back on June 8th for a camp, and then he made an official visit to campus the following weekend on June 14th.
While at the camp on the 8th, Robinson impressed Tennessee’s coaches and solidified the offer they extended to him in the spring:

Right now, Robinson is rated as a low three-star by recruiting services. He’s the No. 743 overall prospect and No. 42 offensive guard in the 2020 class according to 247Sports, and he’s actually ranked outside the top 1,000 overall recruits in their composite rankings.
But Robinson’s offer list speaks more to his ability thank his rating.
Robinson holds offers from six SEC schools and four other Power Five programs. Several of those offers came after Robinson visited or camped at those schools.
Robinson is a big blocker with a lot of strength, and he’s able to hold his own with opponents. He also has very good bend, which is key for an offensive lineman because the low man almost always wins. He has a very good first punch and hand placement, often locking on to his opponent. Robinson is very athletic and can move extremely well for his size. He gets out in space exceptionally well and has superb awareness when run blocking. His footwork is solid. Robinson is also very versatile, as he lined up both at guard and tackle for Carver as a junior. He’s definitely a little raw in areas and will need to trim down, but he’s a bruising lineman who has a lot to like.
With Robinson’s commitment, the Vols now have three offensive linemen committed to them in their 2020 class, and all three are projected as interior linemen.
Robinson joins four-star in-state offensive center Cooper Mays and the aforementioned Javontez Spraggins as Tennessee’s offensive line commits in their 2020 class. The Vols now hold 13 known commitments in the 2020 cycle.
