In Tennessee’s pursuit of running backs in the 2020 class, there’s an intriguing prospect within their own state borders. Though, that running back is located in a part of Tennessee that the Vols have had issues recruiting in the past.
Jabari Small may have “small” in his name, but he’s anything but that on the field. He’s a dynamic running back who racked up tons of yards and touchdowns as a junior for Briarcrest Christian, and he’s already visited UT and keeps in contact with running backs coach David Johnson often. In fact, Small is a big fan of Johnson and plans on coming to campus over the summer to camp.
Michigan, Ole Miss, and Arkansas are big competitors with Tennessee for Small, and he also appears to really want to play with his teammate Omari Thomas in college. More on Thomas in a moment, though.
As for Small, expect for more news on him over the summer.
In his junior season with Briarcrest, Small amassed 1,118 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on just 141 carries according to MaxPreps. He also caught 21 receptions for 244 yards and three scores, and he returned a kick-off for a score as well. Small also plays on defense and had an interception last year, giving him five in his high school career.
