At one point, it seemed like the Vols were going to be heavily involved with Martavius French. But just like many other Memphis prospects in the past, things are never quite that easy.
Communication with French and Tennessee has died down recently, but area recruiter David Johnson still checks in with French and wants him to visit. If that happens, it could rekindle things with French and help with both him and talented teammate Bryson Eason.
French is a large inside linebacker who could potentially play outside linebacker at the next level. His position flexibility is intriguing, but it also provides a lot of question marks about him. Arkansas appears to be a major player for him, as do schools like Florida, Oregon, and LSU.
As a junior last season, French totaled 81 tackes, eight tackles for loss, a sack, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery according to MaxPreps.
