Looking at the Vols’ Top In-State Targets in the 2020 Class

7. Tyler Baron, DE

Height/Weight: 6-foot-5, 255 pounds
Overall Ranking: 161st
State Ranking: 7th
School:
Knoxville Catholic (Knoxville)

Not only is Baron highly thought of by Tennessee’s coaches because of his play on the field, but his relationships and connections to other in-state prospects high on UT’s board make him a priority target for the Vols.

Baron originally played for Ensworth over in middle Tennessee, but he’ll be playing for Knoxville Catholic this fall. He formed a lot of relationships with mid-state players while at Ensworth, and now he’ll be in Knoxville and will be playing at a school with a number of Tennessee targets. Baron is a key for the Vols not only because he plays at a position of need and is a talented player, but he also could be the linchpin for UT’s in-state crop of recruits.

As of now, Baron’s travel plans are up in the air, but it’s likely Tennessee will get him to campus since he’s now miles closer to them. The summer will be a very important time for him, and the Vols will push for him to visit as soon as possible.

In his junior season for Ensworth, Baron totaled 44 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.
