Tennessee has extended offers to several junior college players in the 2020 recruiting cycle, specifically at cornerback. On Tuesday morning, UT’s coaches sent out an offer to yet another JUCO corner in the 2020 class, and he’s currently the highest-rated JUCO defensive back in the cycle.

Brian George is a cornerback who plays for Highland Community College in Kansas. On Tuesday morning, he tweeted out that he had picked up an offer from the Vols.

According to 247Sports, George is the No. 1 JUCO cornerback and No. 2 overall JUCO prospect in the 2020 cycle. He holds offers from Auburn, Texas A&M, Miami, Nebraska, Houston, Arkansas, Kentucky, and many others.

In high school, George played for Glades Central in Belle Glade, Florida. From what I can tell, it looks like he focused mostly on basketball in high school and not much in football. But it appears he decided to pursue football late, and that might be why he ended up in junior college.

George measures in at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds. That’s elite size for a cornerback, and he also brings a lot of athleticism and awareness to go along with his superb measureables.

One of the things that immediately stood out to me when watching George’s film were his instincts and his awareness. When a player has the type of build and athleticism George has, sometimes they can be lax in their technique or try and let their talent make up for deficiencies in other areas. From what I can tell on his highlights, George doesn’t do that. He makes solid reads and can also lay down some huge hits. On one-on-one passes, he doesn’t let the receiver dictate the route or the positioning. He’s physical and has pretty good speed for his size.

In his first year with Highland, George totaled 32 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and five pass breakups according to the school’s site. He also returned a punt for a touchdown and returned a couple kick-offs for over 30 yards.

Tennessee already has a commitment from the top-ranked JUCO player in the 2020 cycle as of now. Four-star JUCO defensive end Jordan Davis is committed to the Vols right now, and UT has offered a number of other junior college prospects. Tennessee has already offered at least two other JUCO cornerbacks in this cycle, too. Marco Domio of Blinn College and Art Green of Hutchinson Community College are two other JUCO corners to pick up offers from the Vols in the 2020 class.
