There wasn’t a lot to really gauge from Tennessee’s special teams, but it did look like there were two times in particular where either Ty Chandler or Bryce Thompson could’ve returned a kick-off for a touchdown. I was surprised by how well Paxton Brooks punted the ball, and he’s going to give Joe Doyle a run for his job. Brooks missed his only long field goal of the day, failing to connect on a 46-yard attempt, but he struck home with a 20-yard one. Brent Cimaglia never had a chance to attempt a field goal for the White Team.

The highlight of the special teams on Saturday was that Bryce Thompson appears to have the potential to be an electric returner. Now, it should be noted that he was going up against a coverage team that couldn’t tackle him, but still. Paxton Brooks was 1-for-2 on field goals, connecting from 20-yards out and missing from 46-yards. Brooks even added an impressive 56-yard punt.
