It’s a spring game. You never really can tell how good or bad a team is from it, but opinions after them are always rampant. The only major concerns I have after the Orange & White Game are the same ones I had coming into the spring: How will the defensive line’s depth do, and can the offensive line take a significant step forward? The spring game didn’t really answer those questions, but it provided a glimpse into both. Luckily for UT, both those units will get another infusion of talent this summer when the rest of the 2019 signing class joins the roster.

I give it a good grade for one reason and one reason only: Tennessee escaped the game without a major injury. Now, Josh Palmer did come down with an injury at the end of the game, but it appears he will be okay. Personally, I don’t buy into spring games all that much as they are just glorified scrimmages in which the offense or defense doesn’t really work on much. Which is why you saw both sides of the football be very vanilla.

There were positive signs in the 2019 Orange & White Game, and there were negative signs as well. At the end of the day, Tennessee got better this spring, and that’s what is most important.
