Lady Vols Head Coach Hot Board

Tennessee has officially parted ways with Lady Vols head coach Holly Warlick. Now, for the first time in seven years and only the second time in the last four-plus decades, Tennessee is on the hunt for a new women’s basketball head coach.

UT Athletics Director Phillip Fulmer will have plenty of choices as he looks for the next person to replace Warlick as the Lady Vols’ head coach. Despite the lackluster results on the court for Tennessee this season, UT’s women’s team still has a roster full of talented players and is still recruiting at an exceptionally high level. Couple that with the premier facilities that UT boasts, and the Lady Vol job should be appealing to a great number of candidates.

This list of potential head coaches is broken up into three categories: There’s the “Big Names” category consisting of the most prominent names likely to be involved in the search, the “Rising Stars” category that’s filled with coaches breaking into the women’s game who have grabbed attention recently, and the “Lady Vol Connections” category that has candidates with ties to the Lady Vols’ program who are also serious contenders for the position.

Take a look at our list of likely candidates for the Lady Vols’ head coaching position.

  1. She is a good coach. She did not have a good many players who could make enough shots against good teams. Possibly rebounding could have been stronger. Making the shots was the deal. Coach couldn’t shoot em in herself. Of course there is defense and I didn’t see them play enough to comment.

UConn and Tennesee will revive their competition in the near future which will be a good thing raising rafters like the old days!

  2. I think the next Tennessee Vol Coach should be Kara Lawson or Candace Parker. GREAT ATHELETES!
