Landing Eric Gray in the 2019 class was a big get for the Vols, but with Carlin Fils-aime set to graduate after this upcoming season and Ty Chandler and Tim Jordan becoming seniors after the 2019 season, Tennessee would do well to try and sign two running backs in their 2020 class.
The Vols’ top target in the 2020 cycle is the No. 1 running back in the class, Zachary Evans. Tennessee will have a tough time pulling him out of Texas, but he really enjoyed his unofficial visit to Knoxville at the end of January.
If Tennessee can’t land Evans or any of their out of state running back targets, there are several in-state players at the position who have a ton of interest in the Vols. South-Doyle’s Elijah Young is a speedy athlete who can play running back and slot receiver, and Maryville’s Tee Hodge is a bruising 6-foot-2, 220-pound back. Jabari Small out of Memphis will be another name to keep an eye on at running back.
