Tennessee is already set to host two New Orleans prospects in the 2019 class this upcoming weekend in four-star dual-threat quarterback Lance LeGendre and under-the-radar wide receiver Dywan Griffin. Now a borderline four-star defensive back will be in Knoxville as well.
Jammie Robinson is a versatile defensive back out of Georgia. He’s been involved with Tennessee for several months, and now he’ll be taking an official visit to Tennessee this upcoming weekend.

Robinson played for Lee County High School in Leesburg, Georgia and played at Crisp County before transferring to Lee County. He’s rated as the No. 385 overall player and No. 31 safety in the 2019 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s listed as a cornerback on 247Sports, but he’s rated as a safety, and he can play both positions.

The 5-foot-11, 196-pound defensive back took an unofficial visit to Tennessee’s campus for their game against Florida this season. He took an official visit to South Carolina back in June and unofficially visited them when the Gamecocks hosted the Vols on October 27th. He’s also taken official visits to Kentucky and Auburn.
Though Robinson is listed as a cornerback by some recruiting services, it’s believed he may play safety in college. And from watching his film, it’s easy to see why that’s the assumption.
Robinson is a hard hitter who makes great reads in the run game. He’s an aggressive defender who wraps up well on tackles and has very good awareness and vision. Not only that, but he’s a dynamic returner on special teams too. Robinson has great speed and toughness, and pound-for-pound you won’t see a more resilient athlete on the field than Robinson on his film. It remains to be seen how he can do in coverage on deeper passes, but he does a great job when keeping plays in front of him.
As a senior, Robinson totaled 105 tackles, six tackles for loss, two interceptions, and he returned one interception for a touchdown. In three years prior to his senior season, Robinson had totaled 254 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, a sack, eight interceptions, 19 passes defended, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and he returned two punts and three kick-offs for a touchdown in his four seasons according to MaxPreps.
The Vols have two projected safeties signed on in their 2019 class in four-star Jaylen McCollough and three-star athlete Aaron Beasley. Tennessee also has four-star safety Anthony Harris committed to them, but he didn’t sign during the early signing period in December. There’s been talk that grade concerns and interest from North Carolina may keep him out of UT’s 2019 class altogether.
If that’s the case, expect Tennessee to turn up the heat on Robinson. Getting him in on a visit this weekend already shows that UT is focusing more attention on him.
