With Alontae Taylor and Bryce Thompson entering their second year, it doesn’t look like any newcomers will be able to come in and unseat the Vols’ young corners. But Tyus Fields might be able to work his way into the nickelback rotation.
Baylen Buchanan played primarily at UT’s nickel spot last season, but he wasn’t always the most effective. Fields projects better as a nickel corner or safety in college, and he’ll likely get moved around a bit when he first starts practicing with UT this spring. Expect to see him be sort of a nomad on defense until the fall.
