Tennessee will have a safety spot up for grabs due to the graduation of Micah Abernathy, and Nigel Warrior’s spot at safety isn’t guaranteed to him either. That means Jaylen McCollough should be able to compete for immediate playing time, and enrolling early will help him there.
Rising sophomore Trevon Flowers figures to be in line for a starting safety spot, and there’s a good chance Warrior does get a starting job too. But McCollough tenacity and “tank” mentality will help him tremendously. He’s a gifted athlete who will benefit from getting in early and learning Pruitt’s defense.
