2. Defensive Line
Early Signees
Roman Harrison (6-foot-2, 235 lbs) – No. 455 overall, No. 31 WDE
Savion Williams (6-foot-4, 300 lbs) – No. 18 JUCO overall, No. 1 JUCO DT
Darel Middleton (6-foot-6, 290 lbs) – No. 41 JUCO overall, No. 5 JUCO DT
Elijah Simmons (6-foot. 350 lbs) – No. 788 overall, No. 52 DT
Tennessee needed to add a lot of size and early impact players on their defensive line, and they did just that with their early signing class. The Vols signed two junior college defensive tackles and have an extremely athletic and dynamic defensive end prospect in Roman Harrison. They also signed promising defensive tackle prospect Elijah Simmons.
But the Vols would love to add another interior lineman or defensive end prospect if possible, and that includes possibly holding on to their other defensive tackle commit in this class.
LeDarrius Cox didn’t sign with Tennessee in December, but he’s remained committed to the Vols. He’s going to visit a few other SEC schools in January, though, so it remains to be seen if he’ll end up in UT’s class or not.
If Cox doesn’t sign with Tennessee, expect the Vols’ coaches to go after another defensive lineman with their limited remaining available spots.
