Darnell Wright, OT
Easily Tennessee’s top remaining target in their 2019 class, five-star offensive tackle Darnell Wright has seemed like a UT-lean for quite some time now. The Vols would love to be able to add him to their class in February, but they’re going to have some fierce competition for one of the nation’s top offensive tackles.
The 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive lineman out of Huntington, West Virginia has seemed like a Tennessee-Alabama battle for most of his recruitment. But Georgia has become more of a contestant lately, and the Bulldogs are expected to make a run at the elite tackle between now and February.
Wright was supposed to visit Georgia last weekend, but he opted instead to visit Tennessee on an unofficial visit. That was the second public visit Wright took to Knoxville over the last few months, the other time coming during the Florida game.
At this point, it would be considered a disappointment for Tennessee if they didn’t land Wright. But it certainly won’t be easy to get him to sign. It never is when you’re going up against Alabama and Georgia on the recruiting trail.
Wright is rated as the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2019 class.
