One of Tennessee’s 2019 commitments helped his team win their first state title in school history. And for that and his phenomenal senior season, he was awarded with the Player of the Year for his district.

Aaron Beasley is a three-star athlete who plays for Heard County in Franklin, Georgia. He and his team made it to the state finals for the first time ever this year, and they won the title thanks in large part to Beasley’s efforts on the ground as a running back (147 yards, two touchdowns) and on defense as a defensive back. After the season ended, Beasley was awarded the Overall Player of the Year award for Region 5AA.

As a senior, Beasley amassed 1,964 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on 293 carries. He also had nearly 60 tackles on defense and picked off three passes on the year. But none of his interceptions were bigger than the one he had in overtime in the state semifinal to send his team to the championship game.

Beasley committed to the Vols back on June 10th and has never wavered from his pledge. He officially visited Nebraska and had interest from other SEC schools such as Florida, but he remained committed to Tennessee throughout the process and is expected to sign with the Vols.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, the 6-foot, 220-pound athlete is the No. 511 overall player and No. 27 athlete in the 2019 class. Beasley could play either safety or running back for the Vols.

Beasley isn’t the only Vol commit to win a Player of the Year award this past high school season, though.

Four-star defensive lineman Roman Harrison was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year award for his district after putting up some impressive numbers all while playing out of position at defensive tackle, and five-star offensive tackle Wanya Morris won Offensive Lineman of the Year for his senior season at Grayson High School.

Tennessee currently has 20 players committed to them in their 2019 recruiting class. The early signing period begins later this week on December 19th and runs through the 21st.
