It’s been an up-and-down affair with Trezmen Marshall and Tennessee. But the door is still cracked open for the Vols, and UT’s coaches are doing everything they can to fling it open.

Marshall has been committed to Georgia since late April, but he’s continued to listen to Tennessee’s recruiting pitches even while being committed to the Bulldogs. His relationship with UT’s co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach, Kevin Sherrer, is the biggest plus in Tennessee’s favor. Marshall has said multiple times that Sherrer is the reason he committed to Georgia (Sherrer coached there before joining the Vols), and the two still have a very strong bond.

In an interview after Marshall helped his high school win the state title, he made it obvious that he’s still keeping his mind open heading into his final decision during the early signing period.

It still seems somewhat unlikely that Sherrer and Tennessee can get Marshall to back off his pledge to the Bulldogs, but you better believe UT is pulling out all the stops to try and steal away the rugged inside linebacker from their division rival.

Marshall is rated as the No. 122 overall player and No. 7 inside linebacker in the 2019 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

UPDATE: After the publication of this article, Marshall tweeted out that he is going to sign with Georgia on Wednesday. It appears that door has shut on the Vols.
