1. Darnell Wright, OT
Right now, the Vols’ crown jewel in their 2019 class is five-star offensive tackle Wanya Morris. But Tennessee is in prime position to add a second five-star tackle to their class thanks to their relationship with Darnell Wright.
Wright wasn’t planning on signing early in December, but there’s growing sentiment that the five-star offensive tackle from Huntington, West Virginia could change his mind and decide to go ahead and get his recruitment over with. Wright isn’t a big fan of the recruitment process, and he’s put off visits and pushed back dates multiple times because of it. Tennessee got him to come in unofficially this weekend and push back his scheduled visit to Georgia, so that could be a great sign for the Vols.
The 6-foot-6, 320-pound lineman is ranked as the No. 10 overall player and No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2019 class currently according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Alabama and Georgia have been seen as the biggest threats to Tennessee in his recruitment, but the Vols have been trending in the right direction for Wright for a while now.
If Wright doesn’t end up signing during the early period, he’ll likely keep his college decision a secret up till National Signing Day in February.
