Rebooting the Vols’ Offensive Coordinator Search

Mike Yurcich

Track Record:

Saint Francis HS, IN (OC/QBs) — 2002
Indiana (Grad Assistant) — 2003-04
Edinboro (QBs/WRs) — 2005
Edinboro (OC/QBs/WRs) — 2006-10
Shippensburg (OC/QBs) — 2011-12
Oklahoma State (OC/QBs) — 2013-present

Pros: Though most of his coaching experience comes from the high school and Division II ranks, Yurcich has made his name known for what he’s done at Oklahoma State. The Cowboys have been one of the more potent offenses in college football over the last five years, and that’s due in large part to what Yurcich has been able to do. He’s also helped develop some stellar quarterbacks, and that includes Mason Rudolph.

Cons: It appears as though Yurcich might be tied to Oklahoma State, and stealing him away from there might not be possible. He’s also a candidate for Auburn, and that could come back to bite the Vols too. He’s also only had five years of Power Five play-calling experience, and it’s been at a Big 12 school. That doesn’t mean he’ll translate well to the SEC.
