Kliff Kingsbury
Quick Bio: For Vol fans wanting an OC on the cutting-edge of play-calling and offensive acumen, Kliff Kingsbury is the obvious choice. While he was just fired at Texas Tech as their head coach, his offenses have been some of the most dynamic in college football over the last few years. He’s been a play-caller at Houston, Texas A&M, and was responsible for Texas Tech’s offense as well.
Pros: While not the right fit as a head coach for the Red Raiders, Kingsbury has shown a knack for creating explosive offenses. He had great success as Houston co-OC from 2010-11, was good as the quarterbacks coach and OC at Texas A&M in 2012, then helped Texas Tech finish in the top 20 nationally in total offense every year he was their head coach, including finishing No. 1 in total offense in 2016.
Cons/Questions: Not only does Kingsbury’s style of offense not really fit what Jeremy Pruitt wants to do at Tennessee, but it’s unlikely Kingsbury will even be in college football next season. He looks destined for an offensive coordinator position or quarterbacks coach job in the NFL.
