The Vols’ lone quarterback signee in the 2018 class, J.T. Shrout was brought in as Tyson Helton’s hand-picked QB of the future. But with two more experienced quarterbacks ahead of him, Shrout never saw the field in his first year with Tennessee.

Shrout, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback from Newhall, California, was a three-star prospect committed to California when the Vols offered him. He flipped to Tennessee and ended up signing with them in the 2018 class. He was a consensus three-star prospect who played for William S. Hart Senior in high school.
