Yet another sophomore who could’ve benefited from this rule last year, Will McBride made a start at quarterback for Tennessee last season and appeared in the Vols’ match-up with Southern Miss after Jarrett Guarantano was knocked out of the game with an injury.

This year, however, McBride didn’t appear in any games for the Vols.

The sophomore quarterback from League City, Texas rode the bench all season for UT this year, and true freshman J.T. Shrout passed him on the depth chart over the last month of the season. The 6-foot-1, 209-pound QB completed 17 of his 40 pass attempts for 152 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions while running the ball 18 times for 70 yards in his two appearances last season. He was a three-star coming out of high school.
