Running Backs
Nathanael: C+
Ty Chandler had the best play of the game for the Vols with his 75-yard touchdown run to start the second half, but that was about it in terms of the running game. Tim Jordan ripped off a 19-yard run as well, but too often the running backs had no room to run because of poor blocking and extremely questionable play-calling. The grade for this unit isn’t lower because a lot of their lack of production wasn’t their fault, in my opinion. The blocking was bad, and there were only 14 called runs in the game. Tim Jordan had one catch, and Chandler didn’t have a single one. That’s inexcusable.

Once again, the running backs’ performance was hampered by the play of the offensive line. Ty Chandler had a tremendous 75-yard touchdown run to start the second half, and then touched the ball once or twice after that. If Chandler wasn’t injured, that’s coaching malpractice. Even Tim Jordan had a couple of nice runs, but because of poor play-calling and O-line play, the group wasn’t able to get in a groove.
