The Vols continue to gain momentum on the recruiting trail in both the 2019 and 2020 classes. This time, a four-star 2020 receiver has listed Tennessee as one of his top schools in his recruitment.
Porter Rooks, a wide receiver from Charlotte, North Carolina, tweeted out his top eight schools on Friday, and the Vols made the cut.

Joining Tennessee on the list was Florida, Virginia Tech, Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma, NC State and Georgia.
Rooks is ranked by the 247Sports composite rankings as the 52nd-best player in the country, and he is the 9th-ranked receiver in his class. He is the number two prospect in the state of North Carolina. The regular 247Sports rankings have him listed as the No. 45 overall player in the 2020 cycle.
The Vols offered Rooks back in January, and he has since developed a great relationship with lead recruiter David Johnson. Rooks visited UT unofficially back in June of this year, and he attended Tennessee’s season opener against West Virginia in Charlotte. He’s also unofficially visited NC State a few times.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound receiver is a do-it-all type player. He is electric with the ball in his hands and has a diverse skill set. He is speedy and can beat corners deep, but he isn’t just a deep threat. He can run the whole route tree well, and he’s a guy deserving of a high volume of targets. He has good footwork and better hands, and he can catch balls in traffic all over the field. He has a good frame, and he’s a reliable receiver in big moments.
In seven recorded games in his junior year, Rooks caught 43 passes for 604 yards and 10 touchdowns according to MaxPreps. In 18 career games at Providence Day School, Rooks has hauled in 109 receptions for 1,414 yards and 21 scores. He also has two interceptions and two fumble recoveries on defense.
Rooks is definitely a candidate to eventually become a five-star, and the Vols would love to add him to their class. He would be a cornerstone of a 2020 class Pruitt will try to get into the top five nationally.
