Nathanael: Vols Win the SEC Tournament
Tennessee hasn’t won the SEC Tournament since 1979. It’ll be 40 years this season since the Vols last won the tournament championship, and I think that streak will end at four decades.
This prediction is the one I feel least confident about, but I’m still going to make it. Of course, it’s hard to predict what a team can do in a tournament before knowing all the seeding and what kind of draw UT will get. But Tennessee more than has enough talent, coaching, and chemistry to win the SEC Tournament this year. They almost did it last year.
The Vols fought tooth and nail against Kentucky in the SEC Tournament Finals last year and briefly took a couple second half leads against the Wildcats. But in the end, Kentucky prevailed 77-72 and won the tournament championship.
This year, I think Tennessee can finally do enough to not only get to the Finals once again, but also cut down the nets for the first time in 40 years.
