Nathanael: Admiral Schofield Has Better Season than Grant Williams
Grant Williams is the reigning SEC Player of the Year and was voted as the preseason SEC Player of the Year before the start of this season. He gets most of the attention when you look at Tennessee’s roster heading into this season, but I don’t think he’s the best player on UT’s team.
To me, Admiral Schofield is actually the Vols’ best player on the roster, and I think he’ll have a better 2018-19 season than Williams.
I think both Williams and Schofield will have fantastic years this season, but I think Schofield could play his way into the conversation for SEC Player of the Year and maybe even National Player of the Year. To me, his success is more important to the Vols’ success as a team based on what he does on both offense and defense, and you saw that down the stretch last year when he became the team’s go-to scorer over the last eight games of the season.
Schofield spent part of this offseason learning from NBA players and scouts about what he needs to do to improve his game, and I think that’s going to help him tremendously. I truly expect him to have a phenomenal final year in Knoxville and out-play his counterpart for most of the season.
