Offensive Line

There’s not really any reasoning necessary behind this one. You watched the game, too. The Vols only allowed one sack and nine tackles for loss, but Jarrett Guarantano and Keller Chryst both took beatings on Saturday night, and the running backs had little room to work with when they tried to run up the middle. The offensive line’s performance doesn’t look as bad on paper as you might expect, but the game itself told a different story.

Simply put, the offensive line is very, very bad. This is quite possibly the worst Tennessee offensive line we’ve ever seen, and that’s really saying something considering some of the offensive lines the Vols have fielded over the last 10 years. The quarterback has zero time to make a play, the running backs have zero holes to run through, and Tyson Helton can’t utilize Dominick Wood-Anderson in the passing game because extra blockers are needed. It’s an awful situation that may result in Jarrett Guarantano or Keller Chryst getting severely hurt.
