Vols Who Should See Increased Playing Time Over Next 2 Weeks

True freshman Kingston Harris didn’t record any stats in the Vols’ opener, but it’s clear that Tennessee needs to develop some better depth on the defensive line moving forward. Shy Tuttle, Alexis Johnson, Kyle Phillips, and Emmit Gooden were all at least serviceable against West Virginia, but just a rotation of four players on the line won’t cut it in SEC play.

Harris is likely the next Vol up on UT’s defensive line, and he showed some good potential in fall camp. He’s a big body who likely needs to still work on his conditioning and remove a little bit more of his bad weight, but Tennessee can’t be too picky right now. He’s large and can move well for his size, and the Vols need that kind of space eater and push on the line.

The 6-foot-3, 316-pound lineman should find plenty of playing time starting this Saturday, and he could work himself into the rotation on the line in SEC play as well.
