Keller Chryst, QB
This one is no secret at all. Jeremy Pruitt mentioned right after Tennessee’s game against West Virginia that he plans to get fifth-year transfer Keller Chryst action over the next couple weeks. Jarrett Guarantano will likely remain Tennessee’s starting quarterback over the next two games and when the Vols take on Florida, but Pruitt and his staff need to see what they have as his back-up option. And the only way to do that is to get Chryst some game action.
Chryst appeared late in the fourth quarter of the Vols’ season opener, but he only handed the ball off a few times and was facing the Mountaineers’ backup defense anyway. Going up against ETSU’s and UTEP’s defenses won’t be a mighty challenge, but it will still provide UT’s coaches glimpses of what Chryst can do in a game.
