Slot: Brandon Johnson, Jordan Murphy, Latrell Williams. Tyler Byrd

Tennessee won’t rotate in as many receivers this year as they did in the Butch Jones era, but they still have some high quality depth here.

Marquez Callaway has been the top option all fall and will remain so this season. But the surprise of this group has been the stellar play of both Josh Palmer and Jordan Murphy. Because Jauan Jennings has been rehabbing and hasn’t been full contact for parts of the fall, Palmer is slightly ahead of him for the starting No. 2 receiver right now. But Jennings is right behind him, and both of those receivers should see plenty of playing time this year regardless of who starts.

Brandon Johnson looks to still be the starter at the slot position, but Jordan Murphy will see the field there too and could fill in at one of the outside spots as well. Latrell Williams looks to finally have some of his old burst back after dealing with injuries his first two years on campus, and Tyler Byrd is starting to come along.

True freshman Cedric Tillman has looked impressive and very polished as a freshman, but ideally he won’t be needed to do a whole lot this season. But he definitely has earned a role if the staff decides not to redshirt him.
