Tennessee’s safety unit is arguably their most veteran and talented group on the entire roster. But the safeties who start in Week 1 may not be the starters by the end of the year.

After fall camp, both Micah Abernathy and Nigel Warrior have done enough to keep their starting jobs to start the 2018 season. Todd Kelly Jr. will provide support, but the biggest riser during fall camp was true freshman Trevon Flowers. He’s played his way into the conversation in the two-deep, and he’ll continue to challenge UT’s older safeties during the season.

Theo Jackson will be a backup who will also continue to compete with Flowers, and Cheyenne LaBruzza has looked more improved this fall as well. Brandon Davis and Shawn Shamburger have been practicing at safety, but Shamburger looks to be in line to start at the “star” corner position.
