Projecting the Vols’ Depth Chart Post-Fall Camp

QB2: Keller Chryst
QB3: J.T. Shrout

As of right now, Jarrett Guarantano appears to be Tennessee’s starting quarterback. He’s had a solid fall after showing improvement in the spring and summer, and he’s done enough to earn the starting nod to start the season.

Does that mean he’ll be the starter all year? No, but he’s still in the lead for the starting spot, and he’s done enough in my eyes to get the start.

Keller Chryst will be the No. 2 option should something happen to Guarantano or if he plays poorly, and I expect to see both get playing time in Tennessee’s second and third game and maybe even in Week 1 as well.

True freshman J.T. Shrout has looked impressive in fall camp, and he’s probably already jumped over sophomore Will McBride for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart. But in an ideal world, Shrout would only see time in three or four games this year and can redshirt.
