Stock Up: Jahmir Johnson OL

Even before Jeremy Pruitt spoke to the media on Saturday, I could tell that Jahmir Johnson was having a good second week of fall camp and was beginning to establish himself on the Vols’ depth chart. But then Pruitt complimented him on Saturday after the Vols’ second scrimmage, and that solidified the solid week Johnson put in.

Tennessee’s biggest issue on the offensive line is depth, and developing JUCO transfer Jahmir Johnson as a key contributor or depth option would be huge for the Vols this year. As long as Trey Smith remains healthy, he’ll be the anchor on the line. And UT’s coaching staff seems to like what they have in Drew Richmond and Brandon Kennedy too. Developing depth on the line will be pivotal for this season, and Johnson is looking like he can be just that if not a starter later this season.

Johnson has great quickness and mobility, he just needed to get stronger and get a little bigger. He has the athleticism coaches like at the tackle position, and as long as he continues to improve and get comfortable in UT’s offense, he should slot himself into the two-deep.
