Stock Down: Maleik Gray
Coming out of high school, Maleik Gray was a four-star safety who looked like he had a lot of potential. But after barely contributing as a true freshman last year, he was moved around by Tennessee’s new staff this spring from safety to corner.
Now, Gray has been moved from defense to offense and has worked with UT’s wide receivers. But he hasn’t looked impressive.
Gray hasn’t found a home on the Vols’ roster in a year and a half on campus, and that has to be concerning. He hasn’t looked great as a wideout, and he clearly hasn’t cut it in the secondary if Tennessee’s coaches have moved him to offense.
Can Gray eventually find the right spot on the roster for him? If not, he’ll end up relegated to the bench this year.
