Stock Down: Wide Receivers

A lot of fans and media members alike thought Tennessee’s wide receivers could be the strength of the offense this year. But through one week of fall camp, the Vols’ receivers have looked inconsistent at best.

Tennessee’s wideouts haven’t always looked bad through the first week of fall camp, but they’ve turned in more mediocre practices than they have good ones. The Vols’ pass catchers have let more balls hit the ground than they should, especially when running routes versus air. It hasn’t just been one receiver whose looked bad; just about every Vol wideout has had their fair share of drops.

Give credit to this unit, though. Whenever they’ve had a bad practice, they’ve shown the ability to bounce back the next day and turn in a better performance. But they need to find consistency, especially among their top three or four players.
